Maddy Arthur

Adelaide born and bred Maddy Arthur is an accomplished vocalist and actress. Performing from a young age, she is a master in her craft. Compared to the likes of Etta James and Bessie Smith, Maddy delivers soul, jazz, blues and R&B music with an understanding and appreciation for the styles.  She is currently completing her final year of a Music/Media degree at The University of South Australia, where she claimed the leading role of King Herod in her University Production of Slumway – a Modern adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s Salome.

Maddy has held resident gigs at the Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club and was the opening artist The Adelaide Festival Centre’s ‘Wood & Wine’ sessions at Elder Park playing alongside some of Adelaide’s most accomplished performers including Al Valodze and Paul Stubbings. She has performed at various events including the Manly International Jazz and Blues Festival in Sydney, and Mclaren Vale’s Sea and Vines festival with her band The Soul Donors. They have performed extensively throughout Adelaide at various venues including The Exeter Hotel, Grace Emily Hotel, Elephant & Wheelbarrow and The Promethean. Maddy has received first place in various vocal competitions in South Australia and Victoria including first prize in the National Amateur Song Contest held by Star Vision Entertainment. As Well as this she sang onstage with Aria Award winner Josh Pyke as part of his 2007 ‘Memories & Dust’ Tour.

Most recently, Maddy and duo partner David Blumberg have been gigging regularly around Adelaide, mainly in the corporate sector. Their notable clients include Lynair Logistics and The Australian Law Society. Maddy is also a qualified vocal coach, training at the Leanne Hoad Singing Studio. She is passionate about music and theatre and hopes to continually live and breathe it as long as she can.
